Small Town Garden Design in Guildford Surrey

Front Garden Design - Weybridge, Surrey

Front gardens set the tone for a property, good or bad. My clients had only recently bought this house, which needed completely refurbishing, but they felt strongly they wanted to renovate the front garden before commencing the interior. The front garden, which was sloping, was just a sea of tarmac stretching across the whole of the frontage. My design reclaimed this space as garden. The formal design complements the classical style and symmetry of the front facade. A retaining wall and new steps for pedestrian access have replaced the sloping bank; the parking area has been reduced to the space directly in front of the garage. Formal Box hedging reinforces the geometry of the paths and an all-white flower planting scheme, including Paeonies, Cistus and Hostas give a sense of simplicity and elegance. A pretty metal archway, covered in scented climbers, reinforces the distinction between garden and driveway but also helps to guide visitors through to the front door.

Dear Cherry

A quick note to let you know how much we are enjoying our garden. Your design compliments our home and your planting plan has been a source of constant enjoyment as the seasons have come and gone. You have forced me into becoming a real gardener ‑ something for which I will always thank you!
